This project successfully  converted a serious flooding problem, into a water capture solution and was described by the owners as "transformative".

The problem was caused by water from a culvert, at the top boundary emptying onto the property thereby causing flooding. 

The main capture pond (out of sight beyond the smaller pond) feeds the water into the trench, or swale on the right of the photo, that is some 40 metres long.

The trench has an overflow mechanism to take water to the creek at the bottom of the property. The project included significant planting on and off the swale to make  use of the water. This had a signifcant cooling effect on te property. Some of the planting can be seen in the photo.

There were a number surprises along the way that extended the project and required the building of the drainage pond that be seen in the photo and a second but shorter swale to the top left of the photo.
