Project Objectives

The individual projects within the larger program, will be phased based on priority. 

It is planned, subject to agreement, for the household project to include personal carbon reduction targets.  

Vegetable growing is a priority for project for the Marys Mount program. 

Further Project Information

• To protect residents of Marys Mount from the growing climate , in particular temperature extremes, drought and flooding.

• To reduce carbon emissions to an agreed level in the pilot and in general across Marys Mount

​

• Mitigate flooding by increasing the carbon in the soil through garden and urban planting

​

• More sustainable, affordable and low energy requirement housing that lower capital cost and running cost


• Housing development to take advantage of landscape resources to improve sustainability, eg bodies of water

​

• Encourage more social activity through neighbourhood engagements   

​

• Grow the size of our local economy that that builds the reputation of Goulburn-Mulwaree as a "Sustainable" Community, nationally and internationally 

​

• Build on the good work of the Council in the provision of recreational areas and facilities across Marys Mount

​

• Set aside areas for the use of our First Nations People 

​

• Reduce carbon emissions significantly by the particpating pilot homes and in the broader program by taking advantage of the very detailed emissions data, listed above

• Continue to Promote the program internationally through LinkedIn, the LGA plan and program plan  

​

• Attract investment to Goulburn Mulwaree to build a Sustainable Economy
